We flew from Cape Town to Johanessburg and then had to wait for four hours there. The next stage was from Johanessburg to Hong Kong where we had about an hour and a half to wait for our connection to Singapore. We left Cape Town at 7.10 one morning and arrived in Singapore at 12.30pm the next day.

We were collected from the airport by limousine and taken to Raffles Hotel. There we were give star treatment and shown to our suite. We had our own personal valet to attend to all our needs. The fruit bowl, ice bucket and flowers were replenished daily. Our beds were turned down each night and the slippers laid out on the mat. We had high tea in the Bar & Billiard room and a Singpore Sling in the Long Bar. The amazing thing there was that there were peanuts on the tables that you shelled yourself and you then threw the shells on the floor.
